10. Finally Sync and backup using either SugarSync or Backblaze

Wednesday, 08 June 2011 Written by  Lucy Partridge

Product: SugarSync

Price: Free

SugarSync - an online backup solution which provides users with security, versatility and some powerful features that are rather unique to online backup programs. For starters SugarSync is continuously backing up your files. Most other online backup solutions will only update your files on a daily basis, but SugarSync offers real-time backups. Not only does it offer real time backups it lets you pick from the last five versions of a file that has been backed up.

Backing up 5 versions of a file takes up a lot of space, and with no option for unlimited storage, this could be a real problem. But SugarSync overcomes this problem, as only the most recent copy of any file is counted towards your storage quota. Overall, SugarSync offers so much more than just an online backup solution. If you're looking for an easy to use product that provides you with a way to securely store as well as sync and share your files, then SugarSync is a great option for you.

Product: Backblaze

Price: $5 per month per computer

Backblaze - Another option for you is Backblaze, an unlimited online backup solution with no upload speed limitations, Backblaze is as simple as it gets. Similar in may ways to SugarSync however unlike SugarSync you get unlimited backing up. The cost for the service is $5 per month per computer. However, if you do have to restore some or all of your data, putting it back in the right place may be confusing for some users as it is a little complex. But if you have a large amount of data to be backed up, Backblaze is a great solution.

There are many other online backup solutions, these are just two that we at 3B Digital like. Other great ones are Syncplicity, DropBox and SpiderOak. They are all quite similar in what they do so it doesn’t really matter which one you chose to use so long as you are backing up your data, as this is vital!
